Winn-Dixie #678
9822 US 301, Riverview, FL. - River Bay Plaza
This Winn-Dixie opened in 1984 as a pre-Marketplace style building. In 1995, this store was given a major interior and exterior remodel to bring this store into the Marketplace 2.0 layout. This store lost it's pharmacy in November 2016, and store 678 permanently closed in July 2017.
Part of this building is currently home to a Planet Fitness, which opened in December 2019. The Winn-Dixie space remains vacant.
6/10/2023 UPDATE: Bravo Supermarkets (a Hispanic oriented grocery store) will soon open in the former Winn-Dixie space after being vacant for 6 years.
The next set of photos were taken in September 2017, 2 months after the store closed.
This is a typical Marketplace entrance layout, with one or two entrance doors off to the sides, and two exit doors in the center.
A store closing notice that was put into effect in May 2017. Store 2475 (6929 US 301) is 2 miles to the north at the Lake St. Charles Plaza. Store 676 (179 E. Bloomingdale, closed) is 5.5 miles to the east and is located near John Moore Road.
Looking towards the former checkouts and the grocery aisles.
To make this Winn-Dixie go back into business, put some new signage on the exterior, and restock the shelves inside!
It seems like that some people were shopping until the last minute due to the closure. This is the customer service counter.
Customer service to the left, checkout 1 to the right!
Even though that pole is blocking checkout 2 and aisle "6A", you can still see the Marketplace interior and aisle signage from the Post-Marketplace interior.
Shopping carts begin to come in view as we approach checkouts 3 and 4...
Here are the final 4 checkouts and the first 6 aisles (excluding 1 and 2) in store 678.
Outside, I found a Winn-Dixie shopping cart. This is the older design used prior to 2016.
