SR 417 GreeneWay: Celebration to Hunter's Creek

State Road 417, also known as the Central Florida GreeneWay, is a 54 mile limited access expressway that runs throughout eastern Orlando. State Road 429 is the western beltway around Orlando, this will change in 2022 when SR 429 and SR 417 connects.


 One of the last remaining GreeneWay signs posted after International Drive in Orlando.

The expressway is named after former CFX (then OOCEA) chairman James Greene since 1989.


SR 417 NORTH:


This photo was taken after using exit 62 on I-4 east, using the collector/distributor lanes. This is also the final opportunity for Celebration, Florida via this exit. Keep right for Disney World via World Drive.


The ramp to Disney World is about to depart. World Drive as a freeway runs for 7 miles. The left two lanes are for SR 417 North to Sanford and MCO Airport.


Keep right for SR 417 North, or keep left for I-4 East to Orlando.


Exit 2 for Celebration Avenue to US 192 is in 1 mile.


The first toll plaza on SR 417 is in 0.5 miles. This is a part of the "Southern Connector Extension", a 6.4 mile section of SR 417 that was completed in 1996 and connects International Drive to Disney World.

Located at mile marker 0.3 on SR 417, is a regular toll booth, with SunPass only lanes, and regular cash lanes. If you are in a SunPass lane with no transponder, then the display will say "NO SUNPASS".


Are you going to pay a toll? Use the right lanes. If you have a SunPass or E-Pass transponder, use the far left lane. Speed is 25 MPH maximum at the toll booths.


If you are going to Celebration or US 192, then use exit 2, which is in one-quarter mile.

Exit 3 for Osceola Parkway is in 1 mile.

Six payment options are accepted on SR 417, including SunPass, E-Pass, Georgia Peach Pass, E-ZPass, NC Quick Pass, and LeeWay transponders. This sign was seen at the International Drive on ramp to SR 417.


One of the variable message signs seen along northbound SR 417. This one says "Travel time to exit 17A: 8 to 10 minutes. Travel time to Exit 26: 15 to 17 minutes.", along with a reload lane up ahead.


The second toll plaza on SR 417 is in three-quarter miles. Cash tolls are $1.75, and E-Pass is $1.43. Current rates are effective as of 2018.

Final opportunity for the cash lanes and the reload lane. The left two lanes are for E-Pass transponders. The reload lanes is a new drive up service where regular commuters can get a new E-Pass or reload an existing account. Reload service is open from 6am to 8pm 7 days a week.

If you are heading to MCO Airport, it is going to be at exit 17A in 9.5 miles.

Because we are going to end our journey through Hunter's Creek, we are going to take exit 10, which is in one-half mile.

SR 417 SOUTH TO I-4:


A distance sign appears on SR 417 southbound, showing I-4 East via SR 535 in 4 miles, and I-4 West is at the end of the expressway in 4 miles. Tampa is in 70 miles.


One and a quarter miles until the John Young toll plaza heading southbound on SR 417. All prices on the sign are for 2 axle vehicles. Add $1.75 or $1.43 for each axle.

There are two lanes in this section of southbound SR 417 until you reach the toll booths.


Final opportunity for the cash lanes via SR 417 south. Keep left for the E-Pass lanes.


In the southbound toll lanes, there are two change lanes, one lane for exact coins, and another for the Reload services.


Exit 6 for International Drive to SR 535/SR 536/I-4 East is in three-quarter miles. This is also mile 7 on southbound SR 417.


A lane drop occurs before the exit to International Drive (exit 6). Because there is no room to put arrows on the left sign, pull through signage had to be installed on the southbound side of SR 417.


Final opportunity to use exit 6 to International Drive and SR 535/SR 536.


CFX maintenance ends after exit 6, right at the Osceola county line. This is where Turnpike maintenance starts. E-ZPass is now accepted on CFX roads effective September 1, 2018.


Five miles remain until the expressway ends at collector/distributor roads to I-4 westbound. Osceola Parkway (exit 3) is in 1.5 miles, and Celebration Avenue (exit 2) is in 3 miles.

To get to Disney's Magic Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, or Animal Kingdom, use exit 3, and then head west on Osceola Parkway.


0.5 miles until exit 3 for Osceola Parkway.

If you want to go through US 192 via SR 417, use exit 2, which is in 1 mile.


0.5 miles remain until the last exit before I-4, exit 2.


Exit 2 departs via the right lane after this sign. There are no more exits until Disney World and I-4 West.


The final toll plaza is coming up in 1 mile. The yellowed portion said something along the lines of "Cash: Keep Right".


One-half mile until the final SR 417 toll booths. This is the only toll lanes that does not have all-electronic tolling.

Now we are on the collector/distributor roads, with an exit to Disney World in one-half mile. This road runs for 2.3 miles.


Final opportunity to use the Disney World exit. If you are heading to Celebration, Florida or I-4 West, keep left.


The c/d roads is about to end after the loop ramp to Celebration Avenue. Coming up is the Disney power pole, shaped like Mickey Mouse.
