Publix #1394 (34th Street & 17th Avenue) - St. Petersburg, FL

Welcome to another post from GTB Retail! We are going to take a trip down I-275 to a Publix on 34th Street.

For the Publix on 34th Street and 17th Avenue, use exit 24, which is in 1 mile.

Overhead sign for exit 24 is mounted on the pedestrian trail. Maximum clearance is 16'-6".

Traffic light for 22nd Avenue, located at 28th Street.

Now we have reached the left turn point at 34th Street from 22nd Avenue.

Publix #9/Publix #1394

1700 34th Street North, St. Petersburg, FL

This Publix store opened on October 13, 2011 as a replacement for former store #9 (opened on August 14, 1973).

The store's facade represents two houses, with decorative windows and real stucco. Newer store #1471 (former store #98) with a 2014 opening date in Indian Rocks Beach has this exterior design.

Let's enter the time machine and go back to 2007!

For comparison, here is the store prior to the 2010 demolition.

Now leaving the time machine, here we are back in 2019! 

This store has the green beans and welcome text, unlike our previously featured store.

As usual in all 2010's Publix stores, produce is located along aisle 1, complete with groceries.

The decorative elements in the seafood counter make this store look deluxe! Meats is in the background.

The meat service counter is in the same place as in all other 2010's stores. Previously, this store would have used the Bamboo interior from 2011 to 2016. See here for an example of the decor from store 315.

Prepackaged meats and dairy coolers take up this section of the aisles. To the left are main aisles 9 to 16.

Aisle 10 is the store's first frozen foods aisle, along with aisle 11. Do you see the exit straight ahead? That would have been the perfect location for a thank you sign before it was removed in 2015.

Aisle 13 is home to household products.

The store's pharmacy is in a location similar to the current 2010's stores, complete with a drive thru. Due to the pharmacy, aisles 14 to 16 are shorter.

Aisle 16 is home to dairy, and is also the store's last aisle.

In store 1394, there are 9 checkouts, complete with two express lanes (5 and 6).

The primary exit door, as indicated by the word EXIT. The 1700 to the right of these doors is the store's address.

Store 1394 offers a drive thru pharmacy, a feature that was first used in 2001 with the 61M model. The exterior design is interesting for a Publix!

Publix #1394 is located at the corner of 17th Avenue and 34th Street at the 1700 block (34th St), or the 3400 block (17th Ave).

In recent Publix news, store #311 closed on July 20, 2019 for a full remodel and rebuild. That store has been open since 1986.
