Continuing on part 2 of today's post, we are about to look at one of the newer Publix prototypes!

Originally opened on December 7, 1974 as Albertsons #4302, the second store in the Florida division, behind former store #4301 in Clearwater. An expansion and remodel was done in 1998 to bring this Albertsons to the Blue/Green Awnings interior. This was one of the 49 Albertsons stores that was sold to Publix Super Markets in 2008, and opened as Publix #1319 in 2009. Publix announced in 2013 that they were closing store 1319 in favor of a new, modern Publix. Demolished later in 2013, and reopened on October 12, 2014 as Publix #1456, a store with the early 49M prototype.

ENTRY says the main entrance text above these doors.

Seen at nearly every Publix store, is this welcome sign. The words Welcome to Publix are installed after the background. Also, the text is in the middle!

Located in this portion of a "deluxe Publix", is baked goods, a sit down area, the deli department, followed by a cheese section.

Nearly the entire produce department, as seen from the store's bakery. Signage for wine, seafood, meats and the grocery aisles are also seen here.

Signage for the deli and the prepping station. In newer stores, signage for the bakery, deli, and pharmacy are turned on by a light.

Aisle 14 is home to dairy, and the second half of the pharmacy, along with regular groceries.

This is the store's 10 checkouts in total, with 8 regular lanes and 2 express. You can also see a newer type of customer service counter (installed around 2016), complete with the current Publix logo.

Grocery aisles 7 to 11 are seen here, along with the pharmacy and signage for checkouts 1 to 3. There is also is a lower ceiling around grocery and frozen foods.

Now we are about to exit Publix #1456 through the main exit door.

Now we have fully exited the store, with a picture of the word EXIT and the corresponding door.

Comments

  1. Store 1456 coexists with another Publix (store 640) 3 minutes to the east.
